1. Websites How Australian Teachers are using Ipods: This article is a little bit lenghty (7 pages) but provides information on how the iPod touch/iphone are being used in education across Australia. It provides the instructors/ educators name and title, where they are based, how the iPod/iphone is used for educator focus and student focus, if they are utilizing a wireless connection, and their thoughts on the strengths/weaknesses. I found it interesting to see how it is used in other areas of the world.
100 Ways to Use Your ipod to study and learn better: I like this article because it provides several different links to all of the resources that can be used with an iPod in an educational setting. It is also very organized breaking down the ideas into the following categories: Study Guides, Podcasts and More, Tutorials, Applications, More downloads, Classroom Help, iPod learning support, tools and sites, iTunes U, and Miscellaneous. Some very helpful suggestion and each one explains what it can be used for.
In Pod We Trust: This article is interesting because it looks at the use of the iPod around the world and provides a couple examples of how it is being used. One point made in this article that really caught my attention is "if you get students to listen to 30 minutes of something educational on their way to or from school, that's 30 minutes more of their attention you wouldn't have gotten otherwise." Some very interesting points in this article. Not all of the information is useful but I found some key components that hit home with the concept or idea.
Ipods in School - Turning Toys Into Tools - Teaching with Technology: This article is short but interesting. It addresses the topic of using iPods and audio books to improve reading fluency for struggling students. It then suggests four ways that iPods in school increase student achievement and motivation.
Giving them Learning Anywhere: I found this article on the apple website. This website had a lot of interesting links and areas that addressed using iPods in an educational setting. One area in this that caught my attention was All the Tools for Mobile Learning; this provided an overview of apple supporting mobile learning and then links to downloading iTunes U for the iPod. This article also provides you with steps that you could take to turn your lecture and lessons into podcasts or slideshows. At the bottom of this article has some native educational applications from the App Store and a couple sample mobile web applications.
Ipods in the Classroom: This article is in a question/answer format in regards to Robert Craven, educational technology coordinator for the Orange County Department of Education in California. He is elaborating on the possibilities of iPods. One point that is made is that the iPod allows you to integrate audio seamlessly into the curriculum. He also provides a couple ways that teachers are innovatively using iPods in their classrooms.
'A is for Apple' on Ipod: This article suggests using the iPod as a tool to improve vocabulary and language. It addresses it for English as a second language students, but I could see this concept being used for all vocabulary and spelling words as well as other languages we are teaching in the high school level.
Learning with personal media players: This article addresses the topic of using iPods to provide students with special needs greater flexibility in how they learn. In the article educators are using the iPod as an assistive technology. It also provides a link to www.audible.com, a site specializing in educational audio, provides posted lectures and audiobooks, and SAT prep podcasts.
Using iPods for Instruction: This article address two huge questions about iPods in
education: Can iPods be used effectively for instruction at the high school and What does the research say about using iPods for instruction. This article also talks about using iPods for e-learning and as a study aid for students. This article provides suggestions for how the iPod can be used and also provides research support for using the iPod in the classroom.
iPods in Education: Innovations in the Implementation of Mobile Learning: Dr. Michael Thomas addresses current issues in iPod Education focusing on how the technology is being used. Very interesting it discusses the topic of using effective planning for innovative e-learning project to be successful using the iPod.

1. LeAnn Christensen’s link to ZappTek - I was very interested to read that you could convert PowerPoint’s and other presentation documents into objects that can by synced with the iPod. This would be a very interesting way for students to develop presentations for class and share them with other students without the huge time constraint of having 20 students present.
2. Ryan Pagenkopf’s link to iPod touch for students – What was interesting to me in this article is the free video converter. This would be an application I could use in my Video Productions course so that the students could put their projects on their iPods instead of just a DVD. Interesting and useful.
3. Tanya Asproth’s link to “Storynory”- I think that this would be a great site to use. I am looking to enhance reading skills and could use this site as a reward for the students. They could listen to the classic audio books using technology skills and then use a computer to type a summary.
4. Gaelyn Sears link to Apple Education Resources – Great resource to keep and use. This site provides lesson plan ideas that would be great for my computer classes or our media classes to get the students using iPods in the classroom. It is always helpful to see lessons or ideas to build from rather than recreating the wheel.

Wayne Watral’s link to Open Thinking – iPods in a Classroom: My Observation – Interesting to read that the students listening to their iPods during instruction were two of the higher achieving students. This article provides three great points as to why this is possible. This really caught my attention because I have discussed this before with observing educators and what the policy should be.

This student created podcast is from the story Go, Dog. Go! by P.D. Eastman. This podcast would be used in three different courses for three different lessons. The first use would be to teach kindergarten or first grade students the Paint program. They would listen to each section of the podcast and use the paint bucket to color the picture with the correct colors. The second use would be in second or third grade to create a basic powerpoint. The students would create a slide containing text and a picture for each statement in the podcast. The third use would be in fourth grade. The students would key in each statement and then practice formatting in Word and change the color words to the proper color.
